See It Running
Load a sample, set a loop, and granulate it in real time. The waveform view shows exactly where each grain is being read from, so you can hear and see the same thing at once.

Tape Mode
Switch granulation off and Grainstorm works as a looper and tape machine instead. Playback speed is continuous rather than stepped, with high-quality resampling behind it, so moving the speed stays clean instead of degrading as you go.
Loop points can be repositioned while the transport keeps running, with dedicated loop modes to go with them.

Edit Your Samples
Grainstorm is a sample editor as well as a granular engine. Cut, copy, paste and insert silence, fade in and out, reverse or maximize — and apply the grain envelope straight to the waveform. Every edit is undoable, so you can work destructively without committing to anything.

Grain Effects And Synthesis
Every single grain gets its own effect chain — filters, band pass, reverb, modal resonators, ring modulation, pitch detection and formant processing, all applied per grain rather than to the finished sound. Grains do not have to come from a sample either: VCO, noise, buzz and modal modes synthesize them outright, with sequencer, arpeggiator and random-pitch modes driving how they are placed.
This is only the grain stage. Each track then runs into a full effects suite of its own — EQ, dynamics, saturation, delays, reverbs, phasers, vocoders and convolution — plus a phase vocoder and cross-synthesis engine.

Spectral Processing
A full phase vocoder works on the spectrum rather than the waveform: phase manipulation, formant and frequency warping, oscillator bank resynthesis and harmonic/percussive separation among them, at FFT sizes you choose.
Cross synthesis then combines two tracks into one sound, with nine algorithms to choose between.
And The Rest Of It
Grain envelopes are built in layers. There are two of them and you can interpolate between them. Inside each, an inner envelope is shaped by an outer one — the outer amplitude-modulates the inner, with cycles setting the rate and depth the amount, and twelve window functions to choose from on either. A third, hand-drawn envelope is then applied over the result, for rounding off corners or shaping something ADSR-like.
Modulation runs through the rest of it the same way. The LFOs run free, synced, randomised or hand drawn, and route to grain, effect and spectral parameters alike. Envelope followers do the same from the audio itself. And every single parameter is MIDI learnable, with its own range per assignment.
